Operations of Variables

  1. Addition : Let x and y be two variables . Then the sum of variables x and y is written as x + y.
  2. Subtraction : Let x and y be two variables. Then the difference is either x - y or y -x.
  3. Multiplication : In algebra, the multiplication of two variables x and y is written either with a dot or multiplication sign i.e., x . y or x \times y.
  4. Division : In algebra, x divided by y is written as x \div y.
  5. Power of a variable : If a variable x is multiplied 5 times by itself then it is written as x \times x \times x \times x \times x = x ^ 5.
